Why You Should Try Group Fitness Classes

Group exercise classes can increase motivation, prevent injury, add variety, simplify your workout plan, and offer opportunities to meet new people.

Whether you’re a fan or totally intimidated by it, group exercise offers a lot of benefits. Keep reading to learn why sweating together is better than going it alone.

1. Find motivation

Making time for movement can be challenging, especially in Minnesota’s cold winter months. Having an instructor and fellow students excited to see you at class can be a big motivator to get up and moving. And when the reps get hard and you want to give up, you also have group of people by your side pushing through the same workout and cheering you on.

In group exercise classes, you don’t have to worry about being better than everyone around you. Every student was a beginner at some point, even the instructor. When you see someone next to you lifting heavier or climbing higher, let it inspire you to explore what’s possible with your body.

2. Prevent injury

Having a knowledgeable instructor leading the class is one of the most valuable benefits of group fitness classes. All our instructors have extensive training in the classes they teach and understand the mechanics of each movement. When demonstrating movements, they can show the proper form and cue students throughout the workout. And if your form is a little off, the instructor can help you correct it. Using proper form is one of the best ways to prevent injury in the long run. After all, we still want to be moving with you 50 years from now.

3. Add variety

Doing the same moves over and over again can get boring. It also prevents you from trying different movements and skills. Adding variety to your workouts helps prevent injury from overtraining and better prepares your body for everyday movement and stress. Group classes are an easy way to switch things up. There are lots of format options and each instructor tends to have a different teaching style. So, no matter how many times you go back to class, it won’t feel stale.

4. Take out the guess work

Creating your own fitness routine can be time-consuming and you may not have the knowledge to create a plan that will help you achieve your goals. Group classes are great for exactly this reason. The instructor does all this work for you. They create the plan for each class, making sure to include movements that hit all the major muscle groups. All you have to do is show up.

5. Be part of a community

Fitness classes are a great way to meet new people with similar interests and goals. Our students and instructors are welcoming and supportive. They will celebrate your accomplishments with you and cheer you when you are struggling. Being part of a community can make your workouts so much more fun and fulfilling.

Join us for a class today! We’d love to have you in our community!
